God began this universe by purposefully creating it day by day. On the final day of creation, He created man in His own image to have fellowship with Him and declared it very good. But they broke the fellowship by doing the one thing God told them not to do. They listened to Satan’s lie and did what he said instead of what God said. Ever since that happened mankind has been in need of a redeemer. God’s plan was to redeem them to Himself. God provided pictures of what that looked like so we would recognize it when it happened. When Abraham was told to sacrifice his only son, he trusted God enough to do what He said. When the moment came, God provided a lamb to substitute for Abraham’s son. That was a picture for us of what redemption looks like. Then God sent His own Son as a sacrifice for us, to redeem us who sin back to Himself. The sacrifice of God’s Son paid for our redemption. Now for us to be redeemed to God, He tells us to believe that what He has sacrificed for us will reward us with eternal life with Him. To be redeemed, we believe that Jesus has satisfied payment for all our sins, accepting what He has provided to us freely by no volition of our own. God’s will for our lives is to be redeemed. He calls us redeemed. This redemption gives us purpose for this life on earth, and secures our future life made whole in heaven.
Titus 2:13,14 Jesus Christ gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good.
Luke 1:68-71 Praise the Lord… because He has visited and redeemed His people. He has sent us a Mighty Savior from the royal line of His servant David just as He promised through His holy prophets long ago. Now we will be saved from our enemies and from all who hate us.
Ephesians 2:1-9 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—among who we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Chris—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Chris Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Chris Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
I was born in Happy, Texas, no kidding.
When I graduated from Happy High School I went to the University of Texas. I had a blind date my freshman year who ended up being my husband of 54 years. We have three children and five gorgeous granddaughters. I am currently reading “Dream Big” by Bob Goff. I was immediately attracted to his adventurous nature in previous books and love that he always calls his wife sweet Maria. I love all kinds of puzzles and sewing. I am involved with our prayer quilt ministry at our church which includes two if my favorite pass times– quilting and praying. I am enthralled watching God’s faithfulness during this most trying time. He knows when all this will end in victory.
